Together we are facing truly unprecedented times. The corona virus pandemic is affecting both our personal and rugby lives at present, and on behalf of the club I would like to send both my thoughts and best wishes to everyone, whilst keeping all members up to date.
For all the key workers that are members of our club, I would like to thank you all for the work you continue to do for the community in these testing times.

What’s happening at the club during ‘Lockdown’
The directors and committee are committed to ensuring that as soon as rugby activities start up again the club will be in a stronger position for the future. There are regular conference meetings taking place and we would like to share elements with all our members:
Memberships - Please see information below
Coaches – Jake Duxbury will continue to be Head Coaches and David Duxbury will continue to be coach mentor/club coach co-ordinator. They have agreed a significant reduction in payment for services during this period. I ask that all coaches ensure their GMS profile is up to date, then Dave Duxbury can get in touch with you for your future coaching development.
Clubhouse Bar & Catering – This area of the club is managed by the Joint Committee (Rugby, Cricket & Runners). They are currently looking at the bar and catering functions, with a view to changing how these work in future, with the aim of improving these functions for all members. If anyone would like to volunteer to help with planning for the future within this area of the club, or has extensive bar/catering experience and could lend a hand, please get in touch with John Bowdery or Nick Murphy in the first instance. In addition, both the Rugby & Joint Club have set up cost saving initiatives whilst the clubhouse is not in use.
Lease of pitch – The club is currently negotiating and new lease with the Diocese of Leeds for the area from the play area to the 3rd pitch and beyond. Once the lease has been agreed, we will look to utilise the 3rd pitch more in the future (with the installation of posts and maintaining the pitch to playing standard)
Disabled toilets – The club plans to create a disabled toilet facility within the club (renovating the gents and adding a new disabled/baby changing facility)
Pitches – The club will continue to maintain the pitches so that they still remain one of the best playing surfaces in the area
Changing Facilities – as soon as lockdown is over, the club will look to clean up and tidy the changing rooms
General housekeeping – as soon as lockdown is over, the club will look to tidy up and improve the surround areas. Volunteers would be welcome, and more information will follow.
No Dogs – Signs will shortly be erected, in conjunction with Bradford Council.
AGM – Further information will be released regarding both the accounts and AGM. I hope you'll understand that until ‘lockdown’ is completed, we cannot finalise the accounts and confirm a date for the AGM. We will update all members when we know further information and are in the hands of the government at this time.
Once lockdown is over, if you are available to help with any of the above please get in touch with me or a member of the committee.
As you’ll be aware, the performance on the pitch have vastly improved over the last 12 months. This is due to the dedication of the coaches, players and volunteers. Following the RFU’s decision to end of the season early, the 1st XV have been promoted to Yorkshire 2. Please see link below for the final league positions:
Senior Awards Presentation 2020 - The senior awards presentation will be premiered on YouTube at 7pm tomorrow night, please click below to view.
Age Grade Rugby
Although the weather throughout the season has been terrible, throughout September and October the rain never stopped on Sundays! However, there have been some really positives for the Age Grade section…
U18s Girls – Andy Pollard has taken this group of girls right through from U13s and with many players stepping up from U15s last season it has been a steep learning curve for this age group.
U16s Boys - With the season ending early, the U16s were denied their opportunity to play in the Yorkshire Bowls final (versus North Ribblesdale). A huge thanks to Mark Eastell, Danny Pollard and the other of coaches, parents and volunteers that have helped with this team. They’ve had a fabulous season and I look forward to seeing them integrated into the senior set up over the coming months and years, whilst still playing as U17s next season.
U15s Girls – Matt Wilson completed his ERCA and ERRA awards in 2019 and stepped up to take the coaching of this age group this season and (with the superb support of the Sarah & Jimmy Hunter) this team has flourished under Matt’s guidance, with numbers growing throughout the season – well done to all.
U15s Boys – ‘The Baires’ a merged U15 team with Aireborough has gone from strength to strength over the last couple of years with great support from both Nick Murphy and Tim Firth. Keep up the great work!
U14s Boys – This team sadly broke up in 2019, due to a variety of factors. With several players/parents remaining Baildon members, many players joined forces with Ilkley. This has been good for the players and we look forward to welcoming them back to Baildon in the coming years.
U11/10s– Anthony Cadman, Sarah Sorge & JP have been superb volunteers with this team since U7s and we look forward to them progressing through the age grades together.
U9s – Richard (Bob) Moorhouse, Dave Hemming & James Darkins have developed a great team at U9s, showing great spirit as they took up full contact rugby. The highlight for them was playing at half time, supporting the #thisisluke charity match at Skipton recently.
U7/8s – Jack Bruno has been excellent with these players this season, ably supported by Dan Fletcher. This age grade is the foundations for the future and I know the Jack would love more help in the future to help develop these players. Due to Jack, these players have always played with a smile on their faces and it’s been great seeing that they’ve been keeping active over the recent weeks – sharing videos of Sunday morning fitness sessions on their WhatsApp group.
Fixtures – Richard Moorhouse took over from Catherine Williams in late 2019. A huge thanks to both Catherine’s previous work over many years and to Richard for stepping up and taking over seamlessly.
Safeguarding (and Girls fixtures/management) – A huge thanks to Donna Hector for all the work she has done for the Age Grade section, covering safeguarding, sorting DBSs and arranging all the girl's fixtures and then sorting all the availabilities – well done, great work as always and thanks.
Parents – Thanks to all parents who support the rugby, whether coaching, volunteering or just supporting. Your continued support is most welcome.
If you have received this email, you already have a profile on GMS – this will probably need to be updated though. On the bottom of this email it will show your GMS username and the registered email address. If you haven’t logged on before, you’ll need to click on the ‘forgot password’ link. If you have any issues logging on the email email@example.com
In preparation for the new season and to get GMS (RFUs player registration and website systems) updated, we request ALL players/parents & coaches to ensure they have access to GMS. To log into GMS please select this link: https://gms.rfu.com/GMS/Account/Login - you will require your username and password. If you haven't logged in before you may need to email firstname.lastname@example.org to have your password reset.
When you become active on GMS, the club can send emails directly from the system with any updates. Once accessed GMS you will be in full control of their personal details and profile (for the club website). This will be the hub of all communications in the future. If anyone has any concerns about their data please see https://www.englandrugby.com/participation/running-your-club/legal-and-administration/data-protection
From September, all memberships will be arranged via the GMS system (not Pitchero). In the meantime, we request that you continue to make monthly payments via your chosen method (Pitchero or GMS) as memberships are based over a 12 month period, not during the season. If any player requires to take a payment break, due to their personal circumstances, the club will be understanding. Simply contact Phil Wilson (email@example.com or 07850 602096) who will confidentially manage this process for you.
Note for coaches: All coaches will have access to their coaching accreditations and will be able to book any future coaching courses on the system (the club will refund the cost of your booking, subject to prior approval).
Finally, at this unprecedented time I would like to take this opportunity, on behalf of Baildon RUFC, to wish you all best and hope you all stay fit, well and safe in the coming weeks.
