1972 Rugby League World Cup: Great Britain 10 Australia 10

On 11 November 1972 the Rugby League World Cup Final was held at the Stade de Gerland, Lyon, France, and our very own Baildon Rugby Club stalwart and legend David Jeanes received a winners medal when Great Britain were awarded the Rugby League World Cup by virtual of a better position in the final qualification league table. On that day David Jeanes played alongside the likes of Clive Sullivan, John Atkinson, John Holmes, Mike Stephenson and Phil Lowe.
